Established in 1980, the Film Producers Association of Malaysia (PFM) is the representative body for film producers, television content creators, and digital media professionals in Malaysia. As the leading voice of the nation’s entertainment industry, PFM plays a vital role in championing the interests of its members, raising industry standards, and shaping policies and directions for the development of the local creative and media content sector. Since its inception, PFM has remained committed to strengthening the Malaysian entertainment ecosystem to ensure it remains relevant, competitive, and sustainable both locally and internationally.
Film Production
PFM fully supports the production of local feature films and holds a market share of over 90% through box office collections from its members. By championing industry policies, providing training for producers, opening access to financing, and promoting local films to wider markets, PFM is committed to ensuring that Malaysian feature films continue to grow, improve in quality, and remain competitive both nationally and internationally.
Television Content
PFM brings together active and experienced television content producers across various genres including drama, documentaries, magazine shows, entertainment, and reality programs.
PFM members continue to contribute to the growth of the local television industry by producing high-quality content for both local and international audiences.
In addition, PFM fosters professional networking among its members, encouraging collaboration, the exchange of ideas, and continuous sharing of experiences to further strengthen the industry.
Digital Media
PFM embraces and supports the adoption of new technologies and digital platforms as key channels for content distribution. PFM stands for the Malaysian Film Producers Association, a non-governmental organization (NGO) that represents film, television, and digital media producers in Malaysia. Established in 1980, PFM plays a key role in advocating for the interests of its members and advancing the local content industry.
PFM members consist of legally registered film, TV, and digital content production companies in Malaysia. Priority is given to companies actively involved in producing content for broadcast, cinema, or digital platforms.
Membership applications can be submitted online via the official PFM website. Applicants are required to complete the application form, attach company documents, and pay the registration fee for further action by the PFM Secretariat.

PFM organizes:

PFM is actively involved in providing feedback to the Ministry, FINAS, and related agencies to improve policies and regulations related to the content industry, such as the FINAS Compulsory Screening Scheme, Entertainment Duty Rebate, the formulation of the National Film Policy in 2005, and the National Creative Industry Policy in 2013.

At present, PFM membership is only open to production/distribution companies registered with SSM/FINAS. However, individuals are encouraged to participate in PFM’s public programs held from time to time.
PFM does not provide direct grants, but it assists members in gaining access to government grant or incentive opportunities by offering guidance and letters of support when needed.
However, PFM has a subsidiary company, Permodalan Penerbit Filem Malaysia Sdn Bhd (PPFMSB), which is always open to co-production collaborations with PFM members.

Permodalan Penerbit Filem Malaysia Sdn. Bhd., established in December 2012, is a subsidiary of the Malaysian Film Producers Association (PFM). Its role is to function as a commercial entity in managing capital for PFM members' projects through co-productions. It also represents a corporate structure that is ready to operate if formal financial support is required.
PFM Membership Registration Fee: RM500.00 (one-time payment upon new member registration).
PFM Annual Fee: RM200.00 (for yearly membership renewal after the application is approved).
